Community participants in the NP ecosystem

Participants in this ecological diagram can be divided into two types: token holders and non-token holders. Token holders include news content producers, community editors, a small number of news content consumers and advertisers. Non-token holders include publishers, associate editors and most consumers of news content.

Publisher

Publishers are independently run news organizations with unique management and operational structures that determine the production, attestation, funding and public dissemination of news content. In the news production ecosystem, NP provides open source news production software, and publishers can retain their mastery of the news production process. They can also play the role of top editors. Some may criticize the practice of giving final decision-making power to publishers, but it is worth noting that the NP protocol was mainly created for publishers to support everyone's identity and voice. NP does not support the creation of a decentralized media phenomenology that aggregates every ideology and opinion into a single publication, but instead aims to foster diversity in the integrated media industry. By providing an open source news production platform, NP will empower publishers to produce high-quality content while maintaining their unique insights.

Community Editor and Associate Editor

Community editors and associate editors form part of a two-tier editorial board. Community editors are tasked with reviewing submitted news content against a set of editorial standards set by the publisher, which includes flagging grammatical errors, illogicality, questionable narrative, or anything that is untrue. Community editor positions are open to any community member in the publisher's production ecosystem. As editor, his duties will be assigned and directed by the publisher's in-house associate editors. Community editors can act as associate editors at the publisher's discretion to speed up the editorial process and assist publishers in making better editorial decisions. However, as mentioned earlier, the final decision on whether news is approved for publication rests with the publisher alone.

News Content Producer

News content producers (hereinafter referred to as producers) in the NP ecosystem can be anyone with professional knowledge and insight recognized by publishers. Once the producers are approved, they can submit news materials, which will be reviewed by the editorial board and published. After the news materials are published, the creators will be rewarded accordingly.

News content consumer

News content consumers (hereinafter referred to as consumers) are an important part of the NP ecosystem. Bilateral trade between publishers and advertisers would not be possible without consumers. While content published via the NP protocol is freely accessible to all consumers, whether they hold tokens or not, only token-holding consumers will be rewarded for reading, liking, commenting, and tagging content.

Advertisers

NP provides a platform for advertisers to promote their products and services with high quality. Any marketing-related activity (eg: banner ads, sponsored content) requires advertisers to purchase publisher-issued tokens used in the NP ecosystem. Advertising revenue will be partially distributed to community participants such as publishers, editors, producers, and consumers, rewarding their contributions to the publisher.

In conclusion, if publishers integrate the token economy with the news ecosystem, token holders in the ecosystem can use tokens to incentivize the production and consumption of high-quality news content. Publishers are rewarded for submitting high-quality content, which is then distributed and disseminated by consumers. Community editors are rewarded for fulfilling their editorial duties, and consumers are rewarded for reading and communicating news content. In this way, publishers are not only better able to establish and maintain their positions as effective and revenue-generating advertising platforms but also to provide good journalism to the public. Consistent exposure to good news content will help rebuild an appreciation for good journalism.
