How NP is tackling the problem of unverified voices and fake news

It has been pointed out that the proliferation of social media platforms and advertising single-serve models has led to a proliferation of unverified voices and fake news, and has undermined the independent profitability of newsrooms and the democratic process. NP suggests addressing this problem first through a centralized editing and publishing process. News material will be reviewed by authorized community editors and professional in-house associate editors before submission to the publisher for approval. Once posted, readers can comment, flag, and report any suspected unverified content and "fake news." When a consumer doubts the validity of an article, he or she can refute its content in the comments section. If the rebuttal gets endorsed and gets the attention of other readers (judged by the number of likes it gets), the comment will automatically appear at the top of the comment subject line, drawing the attention of other consumers. Articles are reported to the publisher, who will check their validity and accuracy and remove them.

Publishing process

Content published through the NP protocol must go through the "submit-edit-publish" step process. In the final step of the publishing process, the benefits obtained from advertisers are redistributed to community participants. This step process is as follows:

  1. Submission - Publisher-approved producers submit news material and submit it to the Community Board and Associate Editors.

  2. Editing - Editing process a. Pre-screened. Community editors participate in the pre-screening process led and supervised by associate editors, mainly assess the eligibility of news materials, and perform basic editing work before forwarding to publishers. b. Final review. The publisher conducts another comprehensive review of the news content, based on revisions and feedback provided by the editorial board.

  3. Decision - Publisher decides whether to publish submitted news content a. Approved - The publisher approves the news content, and the content will be published and recorded on the chain. b. Failed Approval - Publisher approval of news content has failed. Although unpublished, the publisher may or may not allow revisions and resubmissions of news material.

  4. Feedback - Consumer clicks and feedback in the form of likes, comments, flags, etc. indicate the value of news material and contribute to the reputation of the contributor. These insights may be of interest to publishers and advertisers.
